This camcorder has  specifications are quite impressive. It is equipped with two wide-angle, 10x optical zoom G lenses (the term G is a higher quality Sony lenses), one equipped for the left eye and one for the right eye. In fact, similar to the front of the camera actually two “eyes”, resulting in a WALL-E kind of expression, it’s kind of nice, in an anthropomorphic way. Sony uses frame-packing with two, back-lit Exmor R CMOS sensors, each having a recording in Full HD 1920 × 1280, (as opposed to side-by-side-3D, both images of records in a single sensor, unlike , representing a reduction of resolution in each half). Since the TD-10 is in a sense, two cameras in one, the body is larger than most camcorders on the market, measuring 2 1 / 4 x 2 8.5 x 5 8.1 inches and a weight of approximately 22.6 ounces.

Not surprisingly, the HDR-TD10 3d camcorder is also equipped with Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization (in 3D mode, it works only in the wide-angle) and sensor-shift technology to ensure that the 3D images are fitted aligned. We have to wait for a final production model to make a full appraisal of the camera, but I must say that the Sony TD10 was great fun to shoot with and produced some excellent recordings, even in the hands of these 3D novice.

Cons: LCD hard to view under bright sunlight, no pause button while recording, questions about editing software (we will tell if we have more information.)

Pros: Low cost dual camera system. Excellent no-glasses lcd screen. Manual controls,however arcane. Physical size permits mounting on main camera for 2D/3D shooting. 5.1 Audio recording. Very nice images in 3D or 2D. Cost allows cheap multicamera shooting.

Cons: Waiting for Vegas 10d, or Godot, whichever comes first. Awkward manual controls (Handycam, after all). Still unknown stream separating capability (Waiting for…). No recording with lcd closed. No pause in main camera control. No
lanc control.

Summary: Much better than Nu-View, much cheaper than Panny 3DA1, I love this little camera, but… sure could use some editing software, and more control… it’s here, it’s 3D, get used to it!
